Get to know the history of IBOX Musical

IBOX MUSICAL was founded in 1985 by Ismael Batista Moretti and his wife, Jaci Honório Moretti. At the time, Ismael was working as a driver at the Liceu Noroeste school in Bauru/SP, an institution renowned for its educational excellence and its award-winning marching band parades.
Because he worked close to the band, Ismael began to carry out small maintenance tasks on wind instruments and to manufacture special cases, since there was a great need to transport and preserve the instruments. He assembled the cases by hand at home and labeled them “BOX”. Over time, he became known as “Ismael BOX”, a nickname his friends shortened to “Mr. IBOX”.
Even with the growing popularity of his cases, Ismael continued working as a school driver. Then, one remarkable day, a musician asked him to make an “X” keyboard stand. Ismael accepted the challenge and the result pleased him so much that he took photos of the product and distributed them to music stores in the city. The success was immediate, and the stores started ordering more products.
With demand increasing, Ismael decided to invest in machinery. He bought a welding machine and, with the crucial support of his wife, Jaci, expanded production. Jaci, who was also a school van driver, helped by carrying iron bars in the van’s luggage compartment to make the products.
The couple’s dedication paid off. Ismael concentrated on production and developing new products, while Jaci took over the company’s finances. Adriano’s sister, Eva Moretti, also contributed by working as the company’s receptionist, helping to organize the day-to-day and ensuring that everything ran efficiently.
The small company grew and, over the years, the IBOX brand became a reference in the music market, both in Brazil and in other countries.
The challenges and continuing the legacy
After decades of hard work and achievements, IBOX has faced significant challenges. In 2018, two events shook the company and the music community: the death of the founder, Ismael Batista Moretti, and a fire that destroyed the factory, including all the machinery and the building.
At the time, the company was already in the hands of the couple’s son, Adriano Moretti, who took over the leadership in 2005. Even in the face of adversity, Adriano decided to continue his parents’ legacy. Having grown up in the factory environment and with extensive knowledge of the business, he joined forces with his team and friends to rebuild the company.
Adriano has always wanted to expand the brand beyond Brazil’s borders. In 2016 and 2017, he attended the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California (USA), where IBOX gained international visibility. It was at this event that Adriano met Martin Ritter, who became the brand’s international representative in 2020.
Martin’s work was fundamental to global expansion, consolidating IBOX’s reputation for the exceptional quality of its products. Today, the brand exports to more than 30 countries and is used by major artists in Brazil and around the world.
A legacy of innovation and excellence
Throughout its almost 40-year history, IBOX MUSICAL has overcome countless challenges with determination, innovation and dedication. The company, which began in their backyard, has become a benchmark in the music market, recognized for the quality of its products and its loyalty to the values left by Ismael and Jaci.
Today, in addition to the IBOX brand, the company also produces accessories under the DAMPER brand, both synonymous with quality and reliability in the musical world. Under the leadership of Adriano Moretti, the family legacy lives on, taking IBOX to new heights in Brazil and around the world.
